Shipton-Under-Wychwood Cricket Club is situated in Oxfordshire in the Cotswold's. We run 2 teams on a Saturday and also run two friendly sides on a Sunday and midweek. We also have a very good youth section, with over 50 children from U-11's to U-17's religiously turning out on a Friday night at the club for training.
Shipton compete in the Oxford Times Cherwell League. The 1st XI are in Division 1, and the 2nd XI in Division 5. Last year the 2nd XI were promoted and the 1st XI narrowly lost the league to Buckingham.
We also compete in the Wadworth 6X Village Knockout, in which we reached the final in 1997 which is held at the cricket's HQ, Lords cricket ground. In 1998, we reached the semi-final, and the year after the first round of the national section. Unfortunately, last year, we were not so successful, being knocked out in the very first round to local rivals Kingston Bagpuize. I am sure that we shall bounce back this year where our campaign starts off with an away tie with Hook Norton.
We are always on the look out for new players and members.
